Ways To Give

At Dorcas International, a nonprofit that has worked to empower newcomers and Rhode Islanders for 100 years, there are a variety of ways to help. We provide services to hundreds of people throughout the year, and we can always benefit from the support of our community to ensure that our services are available and accessible to those who need it most.

Please consider contributing to our mission by giving a gift today. We are grateful for your can help and generosity.

You can make an even bigger impact by donating long-term appreciated securities directly to Dorcas International. Compared with donating cash, or selling your appreciated securities and contributing the after-tax proceeds, you may be able to automatically increase your gift and your tax deduction.

A gift of appreciated securities may entitle you to a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gifted securities as of the date of the gift. It may also eliminate capital gains tax that would ordinarily become due if you had sold the appreciated securities on the open market and donated the proceeds from the sale to charity.

To make a gift of securities, please click here to download our securities transfer form.

To make a gift via wire transfer, please contact our Development department 401-784-8707 or

Matching Gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please check with your employer.

If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to Dorcas International may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
