On September 5, the Department of Homeland Security issued an official memo announcing that it would no longer accept new applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which has provided renewable, two-year work permits to nearly 800,000 Dreamers in the US.

So our Citizenship & Immigration team is holding FREE emergency DACA renewal clinics to assist those who need to renew.

What does this mean?

· Those currently enrolled in DACA will be able to continue working until their work permits (Employment Authorization Documents) expire;

· Those whose work permits expire by March 5, 2018, will be permitted to apply for renewals as long as they do so by Oct. 5.;

· New applications and renewal requests already received by DHS before September 5, 2017, will be adjudicated on a case-by-case basis.

We recently live-streamed an information session on what this all means and what we're offering for services in our offices.

And as usual, even those who are not DACA recipients and/or have questions about applying for an immigration benefit can ALWAYS access our Citizenship & Immigration office for free consultations M-F, 9-4:30. Questions? Email: immigration@diiri.org or call: 401-784-8621

Everyone has basic rights--no matter what your status is or who is president.

The change in policies that impact immigrants has left many in fear but some basic things remain the same and that's what your rights are. Learn what they are and how to assert them.

Know Your Rights Resources:

We partnered with RISD graduate Jason Fujikuni to design these Know Your Rights pamphlets for the community. Download them and spread them far & wide. Available in English, Spanish, & Portuguese.
